The tussle between the Indian government and the Security Council of the United Nations is further prolonged. India in her attempt to grab a permanent seat in the Security Council and be on par with the other nations is eager to launch Agni V which is part of the Agni series. On the other hand the UN Security Council does not approve of this as it predicts a rift between India and China posing as a threat to peace and security of both the countries.

The problem actually arises because Agni is the most powerful missile which has the capacity to travel a distance of 500 KM and carry multiple nuclear warheads to reach targets in Asia, Australia, Africa and parts of Europe.

Till date only permanent members of the UN Security Council could boast possession of such missiles. India being a non permanent member and possessing something more powerful is not acceptable to its rivals. Whether the Security Council approves of India’s appeal or not still remains a mystery at this point. What happens next? Lets wait and watch!
