Turmeric extract reduces the risk of Heart Attacks!

Turmeric – the natural antiseptic is also useful in preventing cardiac arrest due to ischemia during the bypass surgery that’s good news for patients with coronary artery disease.

Cardiac muscle is an involuntary striated muscle that can hold fatigue and ischemia for a longer time than other types of muscles but still during by-pass there is a chance of cardiac ischemia due to a decrease of blood supply.

Recent studies by Wanwarang Wongcharoen from Chiang Mai University in Thailand revealed that the curcumins present in turmeric will help in preventing cardiac arrest along with traditional drug treatment.

Heart Bypass Surgery (CABG) – Here is a good 3D demo that illustrates Bypass Surgery

Curcimins – the yellow pigment in turmeric – are known for having antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. Bypass surgery is performed to improve the blood supply to the heart muscle. However, during the operation the organ can be damaged by a prolonged lack of blood flow, increasing the patient’s risk of a heart
attack.

Turmeric extracts have long been used in traditional Chinese and Indian medicine and now it is useful as a catalyst in preventing ischemia during bypass surgery.
