Artificial Intelligence, as we know it today, is procuring a positive outcome in our society. The AI’s ability to perform tasks with minimizing errors and maximizing efficiency has helped in jobs that are better suited for computers.

Many production companies have witnessed increased production and effective cost reduction with the help of Artificial Intelligence. Artificial intelligence is also considered to replace humans in dangerous situations like working in radioactive elements and limited oxygen areas.

Additionally, organizations benefit with greater work accuracy using Artificial Intelligence, thereby providing a certain degree of perfection and trust; and helping humans live more satisfactorily.

Maybe years from now, we will look back and think of how superfluously difficult their lives used to be. AI technology is being implemented in several areas, contributing to making our lives easier. Let’s take a look at some of the examples.

Smart Automobiles

The future of smart cars depends on advanced AI algorithms. Tesla’s Model S and Model X, for example, can be synced with its AI chatbot app, Teslabot. This new bot will let you interact with your car on a desktop, be it a Mac or a Personal Computer. It can generate information and act on your orders like locking the car, venting the sunroof, and more.

And if you’re on your phone, you can use your voice to control your vehicle as well. Tesla is also working on fully autonomous cars and is expected to demonstrate a cross-country drive from California to New York by the end of this year as a showcase for its upcoming Full Self-driving Capability. Google, Uber, and Intel’s Mobileye have all been considering the application of reinforcement learning in the context of self-driving cars as well.

Fraud Detection

Artificial intelligence is often the technology deployed to monitor frauds related to internet banking, credit cards, etc. American Express has developed an “Authorisation Assistant” that uses artificial intelligence to determine whether a purchase is out of character for a cardmember. This system is more accurate and can spot a fraudulent transaction based on the signs and indications programmed through the training exercise.

Online Customer Support

Many business websites provide an online chat support system to their customers while they are browsing. Most of these websites have a rudimentary AI serving as a customer support representative.

A live person doesn’t have to give up their sleep and sit on the other side of the chat for 24 hours anymore. These AI chat support bots are pretty smart to provide automated responses, extract knowledge from the website, and reply to customer queries.

News Generation

According to Wired, the AP, Fox, and Yahoo! all use AI to write simple stories like financial summaries, sports recaps, and fantasy sports reports. AI isn’t writing in-depth investigative articles, but it has no problem with simple articles that don’t require many syntheses. We’ll likely see more and more reports generated by these means.

Music and Movie Recommendations

Apps like Spotify, Pandora, and Netflix are definitely simpler than the other AI systems and accomplish a useful task. They recommend music and movies based on the person’s interests expressed earlier and decisions people have made in the past.

By monitoring the choices we make and inserting them into a learning algorithm, these AI-based apps make recommendations that we are likely to be interested in.

Unfortunately, AI has drawn some rather extreme criticism, as the conversation has shifted from the progress that we see to a feared result – AI-based technology, surpassing the levels of intelligence of humans and posing a threat to our existence.

There is currently no evidence to suggest that anything like this would necessarily happen. In fact, why focus on extreme scenarios when many alternatives would see a peaceful co-existence and productive collaboration between humans and machines?
